We are quickly approaching our Rappahannock River outing on Sat July 30th. This will be a smallmouth float trip starting at Hunting Run boat launch to Mott’s run for a full day float. Twin Junction outfitters provides a shuttle service picking us up in the morning along with watercraft at Mott’s run. They do have kayaks available for rent so please let me know if you want one I can set that up for you.
This will be kayak trip on Saturday the 30th. The float is from Hunting run to Motts run. Distance is about 9 miles. You can bring your own kayak. The outfitter will meet us at Motts run load boats and drive us to Hunting run for drop off. I believe pickup is about 8AM or so.I will have confirmation of the time when its closer. Google shows Motts run boat launch is about 1:50 from Annapolis.
Please bring a lunch/snacks plenty of water to eat on the water as fishing will likely take us into about 4PM or so.
Normal smallmouth flies, I did well with baitfish pattern and hellgramites. Bring your poppers as well top water can be pretty good here sometimes from what I hear.
Motts landing is very close to Fredericksburg so any hotel in the area can work. Ryan and I have a camp site booked with Rappahannock River Campgrounds Friday – Sunday if anyone is interested in camping. https://www.rappahannockrivercampground.com/
