Local angler, FSFF member and fishing book author John Veil will speak about the concept of a fishing comfort zone. The talk will describe what is meant by a comfort zone, how to determine your own fishing comfort zone (this will be different for each person), with more detail on how his own fishing comfort zone has evolved over 30 years of fishing. Veil fishes light and ultralight spinning tackle from his fishing kayaks and his shallow-water center console flats boat. He targets tidal species in the Severn River and the mid Chesapeake Bay and freshwater species in Eastern Shore ponds and creeks. He also spends more than 25 days a year fishing in shallow areas around Tampa Bay. The presentation describes some of the techniques he uses to target fish in these areas.
