Lost Lake favorite Bass flies. Foam popper and Olive Peanut Envy with Luis Santiago.
We will be tying of my 2023 favorite flies. the Everglades popper you wont find published anywhere as its a guide fly from a friend of mine. Peanut envy is a very famous fly by Kelly Galoup. Below you will find the materials list. I will have materials available but please bring in any materials you happen to have on hand. These flies are simple in construction but will require several steps so please be on time and ready to go at 10. –Luis Santiago
Everglades popper
Thread: Black at least 210 denier or heavier. You will need very heavy thread to compress the foam.
Hook : Mustad 34007 size 2
Tail: Rootbeer Cactus Chenille
Brown hen body feather
Tan craft fur
Silver polar flash
Olive/Green 2-4MM foam. 3/4 inch wide strip.
Peanut envy
Thead: olive thread 210 or 6/0
Rear fly
Hook Mustad 3306 size 4 or similar light gauge streamer hook 1x long with straight eye.
Tail: Olive maroubo
TailFlash: olive or gold Crystal flash, angle hair, wing and flash or baitfish emulator.
Small or medium copper or gold wire.
Hackle: olive, yellow or black grizzly feather. Any feather you would use for a wolly bugger will work fine.
Body: olive ice dub dubbing or light bright. I use Ice dub olive number ICE263
Wing olive marabou
Olive barred silly legs.
Connector: Nylon coated wire or articulated connector
Front fly:
Hook Mustad 3306 size 2
Medium/small gold conehead
TailFlash: olive or gold Crystal flash, angle hair, wing and flash or baitfish emulator.
Small or medium copper or gold wire.
Hackle: olive, yellow or black grizzly feather. Any feather you would use for a wolly bugger will work fine.
Body: olive ice dub dubbing or light bright. I use Ice dub olive number ICE263
Wing olive marabou
Olive barred silly legs.
Additional items needed: nail polish and gel superglue, Wire cutters, flat pliers for crimping barbs, dubbing wax.
