This Saturday we will be tying a few basic warm water flies that should touch on a lot of the basic technics of fly tying. These include;
1. Woolly Bugger fly fishing pattern
“There is no better pattern in this world than a well tied woolly bugger. This is one of the first flies most of us learn to tie and one of the favor for early season fishing. I know that every fly fisherman has a go-to fly that they will pull out in a tough spot and mine is a woolly bugger. Although many fishermen won’t admit it their secret is to “wander down the stream around the bend and drop a black (or sometimes olive) woolly bugger in and let it work.” OPTIONS: Basic, Black, Olive, White, Brown, Crystal, With Flash

If we have time and I can locate the materials we can attempt tying a Micro Minnow
One of the most important fly styles that is often found absent from saltwater anglers’ fly boxes are small flies – if you have ever enjoyed success while casting small flies to big fish, you know what we mean! Matching the size of the prevalent baitfish can be critical in many situations, and these small flies from fit the bill! We have also had excellent success fishing these flies to largemouth & smallmouth bass.
Materials:
Puglisi EP Fibers White
Tiemco TMC 105 Egg Hook #4 or #6
Mono Thread .006
Prismacolor Marker – Cool Gray
Sharpie Marker Black with fine point
Z-Poxy or any 2 part 5-minute epoxy
Hologram Dome Eyes size 1/8″ or 5/32″
We can experiment with different colors and materials.
I look forward to seeing all of you at this session.
Fly tying has remained a focus for the club, with regular fly tying sessions open to all members. During these sessions, we swap patterns, help novice tiers, learn new techniques, and just enjoy the fellowship of other members in a relaxed setting. Plans for what will be the fly pattern of focus at each fly tying session are announced through a club email message distributed to all members. Materials enough to make 2-3 flies are included in the session. All we ask is you join the club ($15.00, see Membership). Bring your tools and vise. If you are new to tying, the club has some vises and tools you can use to get you started.
