Michael Vlaikov will teach a jointed streamer. Like the “SID” from Andreas Anderson. Or a Galloup or Schultz’s fly for smallmouth.
He could also tie a large baitfish fly for stripers and pickerel etc.
Here is what we will need for the “SID”:
1. 2 hooks for each fly #4 for the front and #2 for back hook. Other sizes work too I also tie them much larger. I use Ahrex predator with a slanted front. But we can modify some hooks that have a straight shank. I will have plenty of wire to connect the hooks
2 Small patch of deer body hair not bucktail. Will need 3 pencil sized portions. Basically the head is a stacked deer hair head.
3. Large Zonker Strips. Barred is preferred
4. Mallard flank feathers or similar
5. polar UV chenille 1”
6. Small eyes.
7 UV head cement
Lastly I use GSP thread 100 denier. But any thread is useable as long as it is strong. 200-210 denier for std thread. We will really be putting some pressure on when making the heads!
I will bring some materials but unsure of how many people will attend so may not have enough. So please if you have any of these materials bring along in case we need them.
As far as other flies depending on time I may also show my favorite pickerel fly! It’s just a baitfish with saddle hackle and fish hair synthetic bucktail basically!
